I found a book recommendation on a friend’s blog – Healthy Child, Healthy World. It looked interesting, so I put it on hold at the library… I had no idea what I was getting into! I have for a while now, just scoffed at the whole organic movement, especially as it always seems to accompany the hug a tree movement. Well, while this book certainly leans towards the liberal side, there is a lot of good information and a lot of food for thought. After doing research I have actually put thought into action and am purging some products we use everyday, attempting to make my own laundry soap, and slowing replacing all my cleaners. And, based on the “dirty dozen” (the top 12 fruits and vegetables most contaminated by pesticides) I may even start buying organic food. We’ve researched home grown beef and are looking into a dairy farm for raw milk. For some, this might not be that big of a deal, but for us, it’s entirely new! One thing is for sure, our finances will be taking a hit, but I am quickly becoming very convinced of the need. So, if interested, check the book out at the library… let me know what you think. As we are called to redeem creation, and for me, my small part of creation being my home, I’m excited to provide my family with healthy alternatives. We’ll see how it works!
