Today I tried using “natural” cleaners for the first time… they worked great!! I don’t know why I’ve never tried before – they worked just as well as the other stuff, I wasn’t worried about what I was breathing in (especially being pregnant), and it’s cheap! Granted, I used more paper towels than I normally would have – call it the nurse in me, I like to throw things away rather than try to launder them… Anyway, here are the recipes for what I used – loved it!

Glass cleaner- 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water

Basic Vinegar Rinse- Fill a squirt bottle with equal amounts white distilled vinegar and water. Shake to mix. Great for Floors, walls, windows, and for removing soap scum.

I used this for wiping down everything – worked well.

Homemade Soft Scrubber –
½ Cup Baking Soda
Liquid Soap or Detergent

This is what I used to clean the bathtub and sink – I found it to work just as well as comet! I’m excited about these alternatives – I wanted to try it, but didn’t think it would really work… surprisingly enough, it did and worked well!

Lastly, here is a picture of the awesome rainbow we had at home the other day! If you look closely, you can see the double rainbow too.

  1. Sweetness! Thanks for the recipes. I guess I've been using natural all along (water) but it doesn't work as well with built up scum 🙂 Soft scrub was all I really got since water didn't really cut it on the tub but these sound great 🙂 Anything for inside the toilet bowl?? Incredible rainbow too…they have a new special place in my heart after the Grand Canyon. You'll have to remind me to share the story! Love you guys!! Incredible bathroom too btw…can't wait to see it in person.

  2. I always use baking soda to get stuff off my pots when dish detergent fails. Vinegar and water is also great to clean up after pets :)- Raleen
